The Business of Vocal Jazz—
Jumping In & Going For It!
Led by Seattle jazz vocalist Katy Bourne, this class offers practical advice and encouragement for aspiring vocalists who are interested in more active gigging and/or singing professionally.
It covers such topics as:
- Getting your "book" together
- Transposing charts
- Working with instrumentalists
- Hustling gigs
- Best practices for promotion and publicity
This ten-week series is both a "how to" guide to breaking into the business as well as an inspirational kick-start to pursuing your dream of singing. Classes are laid-back and friendly, and the course includes two "field trips" to Seattle area vocal jams.
Schedule
Class times are Tuesdays, 6:00—7:00pm, except "field trip" nights: Wednesday, February 8th, 7pm at Egan's for showcase & jam, and Monday, February 20th, 7pm at Tula's.
Cost: $200 for ten-week session, plus vocal jam cover charges.
