
Nice It Up. Jamaican Popular Music Ensemble
Led by Naomi Siegel—working from charts and by ear, this ensemble is a performance workshop in Jamaican popular music, covering early ska, rocksteady, roots reggae and its evolution. The repertoire will be primarily from the '60s and '70s and will draw upon an array of Jamaican music including such groups as The Skatalites, The Wailers, Count Ossie, The Ethiopians, Jackie Mittoo, The Maytals, Bob Marley, Culture, Burning Spear and King Tubby.
- Open to all levels and instruments—3 to 7 players
- Guided rehearsals with individual attention
- Acoustic piano, drumset and amp provided
- Play in final performance
Student Requirements
Punctual attendance, and desire to learn and improve.
Students supply their instrument.
$345 for ten-week session - classes meet 1.5 hours weekly.
