Harmony & Comping Strategies for the Jazz Guitarist Workshop Series with Tim Lerch Next Workshop—Saturday, June 18th, 2011, 1:00 to 3:30 pm
More about the series...
Our Jazz Guitar Harmony workshop series with esteemed PNW musician/teacher/clinician Tim Lerch, lays out a system for unlocking the fingerboard. More than just a collection of memorized "grips" this system allows the guitarist to play fluid jazz harmony in any musical environment—a real advantage, especially in duos, trios, or solo situations.
Tim guides you in developing a more expansive harmonic and rhythmic vocabulary and an understanding of chord substitutions and reharmonization. Presented in a building block sequence of learnable information, the workshop series includes how to create intros, turnarounds and endings, use better voice leading, incorporate counterpoint, and ultimately break out of the common "gripology" plaguing so many guitarists.
